Three games, three moods: what to play on Glowbox tonight

A tidy merge garden, a quiet wind puzzle, or a semester of someone else's college life. A short guide to picking the Glowbox game that fits how your evening feels.

Every evening comes with its own kind of tired. Some nights you want your hands busy and your head quiet. Some nights you want one small problem you can actually solve. And some nights you want to sit with a story for a while. Glowbox has three games right now, and each one fits a different kind of night. All three are free and run in your browser.

If you want something gentle for your hands: Lumi Garden

Lumi Garden is for nights when you do not want to think too hard. You tap the seed jar, drag two matching items together, and watch a sprout become a bud and a bud become a flower. Animal visitors bring small orders, and the gold leaves you earn light up a dim glass greenhouse one corner at a time.

Nothing rushes you. When the dew runs low, that is a natural moment to stop, feed a spare flower to Yingying the light sprite, and come back tomorrow. It is a good game for ten minutes on the sofa with the lights low.

If you want one clear, quiet puzzle: Windpost

Windpost is for nights when your mind wants something tidy. You are Xiaoman, an apprentice mail carrier in a village that sends its letters by wind. Turn the wind flowers so their petals point the way, press Fly, and watch the letter drift to the right front door.

The whole puzzle is on screen at once, there is no timer and no game over. If the letter wanders off, a dashed trail shows where it went wrong, and you change one flower and try again. A level takes a few minutes, which makes it easy to play one, feel a small click of satisfaction, and go to bed.

If you want a story to live inside: Parallel Me

Parallel Me is for nights when you want to be somewhere else for a while. You live one semester of someone else's college life, ten weeks, through her phone: chats with roommates and friends, a feed of daily posts, a plan for each week, and event cards that change your plans. One semester can end in any of 19 endings, so the next run can turn out quite differently.

Twice in a semester you can type your own reply instead of tapping a button, and the other person answers in their own voice. If you would rather not start a whole new run, Today's Life gives everyone the same shared run for the day, so you can see how your choices compare with how other players chose.

This one asks for a little more attention than the other two, so it suits a slower evening.

A simple way to choose

  • Tired and want calm: Lumi Garden.
  • Restless and want focus: Windpost.
  • Reflective and want a story: Parallel Me.

There is no wrong pick, and nothing to install. Pick the one that matches tonight, and try another tomorrow.

_Parallel Me's in-game text is in Chinese._
